Charging stations for EU highway network

The European Parliament aims to speed up the deployment of electric and hydrogen charging stations for heavy vehicles. Electric trucks and buses should also benefit from dedicated, fast infrastructure every 60 km, but only on the main highways. In addition, trucks should benefit from two charging stations in safe and secure parking areas from 2028, rather than one station from 2031 as proposed by the Commission. Members the of EU-Parliament also set a target of one hydrogen station for heavy goods vehicles every 100 km along the highway network by 31st December, 2027. These stations must have a minimum capacity of two tonnes per day and be equipped with at least one 700 bar distributor.
