Is driving an electric truck illegal?

What if driving electric trucks causes drivers to break European law? That is the debate in Sweden, where rules currently in force require drivers to take a break after four hours of driving. However, the Swedish transport federation Transportföretagen estimates that “when a driver is driving an electric truck, he is sometimes forced to drive longer to reach the next charging station”. Thus, “drivers could find themselves in situations where they would be forced to work illegally. The current rules are designed for combustion engines”, states Transportföretagen, who believe the rules “should be modified for electric vehicles”.
