Delayed establishment of EPZs in Spain

Spanish legislation requires towns with more than 50,000 inhabitants to set up low emission zones. Of the 149 municipalities concerned, only Madrid and Barcelona have taken this step. In six other towns, EPZs are under study or in the process of being set up. In Valencia, the third Spanish city in terms of population, the municipality is working on it. In San Sebastián and Vitoria, two provincial capitals of the Spanish Basque Country, projects are being studied.
